Magic at Arrowhead
We read the Grimms’ “Trip of the Week” article on Lake Arrowhead (Aug. 2) and felt compelled to write about one of the most magical places that was not mentioned. The Hilton is a lovely place to spend the night, but if you are looking for a special treat, the Storybook Inn is a must, especially if bed-and-breakfast inns are your preference. Just 1 1/2 miles from the lake. Abundant freshly cut flowers grace the large living room that is elegantly decorated with an Oriental touch. At the other end of the room you lounge in the beautiful solarium as you observe the 100-mile view from Redlands to the Pacific Ocean.
Each of the 10 rooms is individually decorated, with down comforters and many large pillows. A full home-cooked breakfast is served on fine china along with the Los Angeles Times. In the evening you are treated to fine California wines and generous helpings of delicious hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. We have stayed there twice since the new owners took over last December. The phone is (714) 336-1483.
