Three brothers whose blood tested positive for AIDS antibodies were scheduled to return to elementary school classes at Arcadia, Fla., under a court order, and the superintendent dismissed threats of a boycott. The Ray brothers--Richard, 10, Robert, 9, and Randy, 8--had been barred from regular classes in DeSoto County since last fall, when their parents, Clifford and Louise Ray, told school officials their sons, all hemophiliacs, tested positive for AIDS antibodies. Doctors said the boys apparently became infected with the virus, which causes the deadly disease acquired immune deficiency syndrome, by taking medications derived from blood. Their parents and sister are not infected.
