Com Systems’ Earnings Up 283% in 2nd Quarter

Com Systems said its earnings rose 283% to $770,000, or 16 cents a share, in the second quarter ended June 30 as sales rose 48% to $9.8 million.

The Van Nuys long-distance telephone company said earnings were up because of strong sales growth and because its fiber optic transmission network has made its operation more efficient.

For the six months, Com Systems said, its earnings rose 98% to $1.3 million, or 27 cents a share, as revenue climbed 48%, to $18.8 million.
