Garden Grove : Senior Center Forum to Focus on Medicare
Federal Medicare programs and supplemental insurance policies will be the subject of a forum Wednesday at the Garden Grove Senior Center. Tips will be offered on how to spot and avoid unscrupulous sales practices.
The forum, which will also provide information on Health Maintenance Organizations, is being sponsored by the Medicare Assistance Program and funded by the state Department of Aging.
In the first segment of the program, Argenia Cooper of the U.S. Social Security Administration will talk about “What Medicare Covers.” The talk is designed to correct misinformation and provide an update on changing laws and regulations.
In the second portion of the program, Doris Sterling, a consultant for the health insurance industry and HMOs, will discuss “Medigaps and HMOs,” in an effort to give information on the type of coverage to look for and ways to detect unfair or illegal insurance practices and policies.
The forum, which is free and open to the general public, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the center, located at 11300 Stanford Ave. For more information, call Vicky Lester at (714) 771-1209.
