Ramada to Break Ground at Site Near Disneyland

Ramada Inns Inc. said it will break ground today on a $28-million hotel on Harbor Boulevard across the street from Disneyland.

The 467-room hotel will be Ramada’s third in Orange County and the chain’s largest on the West Coast. It is a joint venture of JDC America Corp. of Miami and San Diego’s Seaport Manfred Co., owner of Seaport Village in that city. Seaport’s president and chief executive is Roger Manfred, the retired head of Trusthouse Forte Inc., a subsidiary of one the world’s largest hotel chains.

The two-tower Anaheim hotel will have 5,000 square feet of meeting space and room rates tentatively priced from $45 to $70 per night. It is expected to be completed in a year.

The chain also has a 240-room Ramada Inn Anaheim-Disneyland on Katella Avenue and a 110-room Ramada Inn franchise along Interstate 5 in San Clemente.
