Rains Move Into Northeast
From United Press International
Torrential rains that triggered flooding in the Chicago area and helped make August the wettest month on record in the Midwest moved into the Northeast today, dwindling to a steady drizzle in the process.
Rain fell in southern New England, southern New York, northern New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania. Before it left, the storm system dropped nearly three inches of new rain on the Chicago area to bring the monthly total to 17.01 inches, making August the wettest month in the city’s history.
