Christian Wins Scratch Main Event

Alan Christian of Huntington Beach won the four-lap scratch main event in the weekly speedway motorcycle program Friday night in front of 2,163 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Following Christian were Steve Lucero of Riverside and Mike Faria of Colton. Third was Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa, who had won 11 scratch main events this season at Costa Mesa.

Shawn McConnell of Brea won the eight-lap handicap main event. McConnell was followed by Christian, Ed Castro of Ojai, Gary Hicks of Glen Avon, Scotty Brown of Anaheim, Mike Curoso of Sant Ana, Faria and Bob Ott of Balboa.

Shane Diiullo of Huntington Beach won the five-lap support class main event, and Dave Delbridge of Anaheim won the four-lap third division main lap event.
