5 Arraigned in Theft of Juan Peron’s Hands

BUENOS AIRES —
An Argentine judge Monday arraigned five suspects in closed session in connection with the amputation and attempted ransom of the late President Juan Peron’s hands, a court secretary said.
Grave-robbers earlier this year broke into Peron’s tomb and cut off both of the corpse’s hands. In July, they sent notes to the Peronist political party, founded by Peron in the 1940s, demanding an $8-million ransom. The ransom was never paid, and the hands have not been recovered.
