37 Aboard Jet Safe After Engine Fire Warning
Associated Press
TAMPA, Fla. —
An American Airlines 727 with 37 people aboard made a safe emergency landing Wednesday after the pilot reported an engine fire, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The passengers and crew of Flight 907, en route to Tampa from Nashville, Tenn., were evacuated by emergency chute when the plane landed at Tampa International Airport.
A warning light in the cockpit indicated a possible fire in one engine when the plane was on approach, but controllers in the tower saw no flames or smoke, the spokesman said.
