AUGUSTA, Ga. —
An 11-year-old boy was charged with murder in the apparent suffocation of a 1-month-old girl he was baby-sitting, authorities said Friday.
“He said he was trying to stop the baby from crying,” police Sgt. Leroy Sims said. When the baby’s mother came home Thursday “from getting her hair done, she walked into the room and the boy had a pillow over the child’s face.”
The 11-year-old was being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center near Augusta pending an autopsy on the infant, Sims said.
