GLOBE TO PREMIERE SIMON PLAY

SAN DIEGO — Neil Simon will be premiering his new musical, “A Foggy Day,” at the Old Globe in the spring, the theater announced Tuesday.
The musical, which features songs by George and Ira Gershwin, will mark the first time Simon, one of America’s most commercially successful playwrights, will work in San Diego.
Like Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods,” which is opening in New York next month after an Old Globe premiere in December, “A Foggy Day” is, from the outset, Broadway bound.
Managing Director Thomas Hall and Artistic Director Jack O’Brien plan to announce the selection of a director soon after a private reading Sept. 20 in New York.
“A Foggy Day” replaces “Stepping Out” in the Globe’s schedule. It will run from April 7 through May 29.
