Mechanic Crashes U.S. Helicopter in S. Korea
A U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter crashed and burned at an American military base in South Korea after an Army mechanic tried to take off in it without permission, officials said Wednesday.
An Army spokesman said the soldier was in stable condition with burns after the helicopter crashed Tuesday on the runway at Camp Humphreys, about 40 miles south of Seoul. He would not identify the soldier. Army authorities were investigating why the soldier, who is not a pilot, attempted to take the helicopter, the spokesman said.
