‘Small Aircraft as Big Peril’
The article neglects to differentiate between small private aircraft and the nation’s fleet of small in appearance corporate aircraft that keeps America’s business leaders moving.
We operate what is commonly referred to as a corporate jet aircraft. It is small in size, but it does have all of the “airliner” safety electronics you described and several important features that commercial airlines should but do not have. The pilots are professional and full time. They undergo recurring training in flight simulators, they do get plenty of sleep and they do not drink the day before a flight!
Don’t let size fool you. The “Big Peril Flying in Deregulated Skies” is the quality of pilots and equipment that the FAA licenses, not their size.
