The 59 members of the Rochester Philharmonic plan to file charges with the National Labor Relations Board after being laid off Monday by symphony officials and told that, when they returned, they’d have to take a pay cut of $19 a week. The impasse, said symphony marketing director Nancy Calocerinos, occurred during contract renegotiations in July: “(The sides) were so far apart there was no movement in negotiations. We will be out of money within a year if we don’t make dramatic changes in the way we do business.” A negotiation session with a federal mediator will be held soon, she said.
