NBC AND UNION TO RESUME TALKS

Share

Negotiators for NBC and the union representing 2,800 striking NBC technicians and news staffers will return to the bargaining table Wednesday in Washington, officials for both sides said Friday.

The strike now is in its 13th week. The meeting between NBC and National Assn. of Broadcast Employees and Technicians officials will be their first since eight days of federally mediated talks broke off on Sept. 1.

NBC and NABET spokespersons said that the new round of talks would start at 10 a.m. Wednesday under auspices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The NABET strike, the longest in the union’s history with NBC, began June 29 after the company unilaterally put into effect a two-year contract that union negotiators previously rejected.
