The California State University, Long Beach, football team will try to gain some national recognition Saturday when it plays the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Mich.

The 49ers, however, are listed in Las Vegas as 37-point underdogs in what will be their first game ever against a Big Ten team.

The crowd at Michigan Stadium--expected to be more than 100,000--will be the largest to ever watch a Long Beach team. In three games this season, the 49ers have played before crowds averaging 5,545.

Michigan, which beat Washington State, 44 to 18 last week after an opening loss to Notre Dame, is ranked 14th in the nation.

The 49ers, 2-1, had a two-game winning streak stopped last Saturday night when they lost, 31-12, at Cal State Fullerton.

Jeff Graham, the 49er quarterback, will be throwing against a Wolverine defense that gave up 334 passing yards to Washington State.
