One Killed in Tanker Blast in Manila Bay

Associated Press

A fire and several explosions ripped through a Japanese-owned tanker Thursday as it was unloading chemicals in Manila Bay, killing at least one person and injuring 14, officials said.

In addition, at least six people--four of the ship’s 18 South Korean crewmen and two Filipinos--were missing more than five hours after fire destroyed the 2,856-ton King Family and two barges docked alongside.
