Aztec Safety Cooper Is Out for 3 Weeks
The injury-riddled San Diego State secondary received mixed news Monday.
David Cooper, the second-team strong safety is out for three weeks with a left knee sprain. But Mario Mitchell and Clarence Nunn, the two injured starting cornerbacks who missed last Saturday’s game at Oregon, practiced Monday. Trainer Don Kaverman still lists them as questionable, but he said there is a reasonable chance they could play Saturday at Wyoming.
Mike Hooper, a senior defensive end, aggravated a turf toe injury against Oregon and is questionable for Saturday.
The most notable absence at practice, however, was Todd Santos. Santos missed practice because of a cold.
Derek Santifer, who was a starting inside linebacker until he missed two practices last week and was benched for disciplinary reasons, returned to practice for the first time in a week.
