Paramount : Funds for Drug Prevention

Share

The Paramount Unified School District has applied for $25,000 in federal funds to be used to involve parents in an anti-drug abuse program.

It would launch a parent education unit as part of the district’s comprehensive substance prevention project for students. A liaison person would be hired to educate parents on drug prevention and assist in finding counseling. A portion of the money would be spent for anti-drug abuse materials.

The parent program will supplement the student drug prevention program, which is supported through lottery funds, said Katie Barak, director of curriculum services. The district expects to receive the funds early next month and start the program at that time.
