Hollywood : Delay on Galaxy Project
The Community Redevelopment Agency on Wednesday postponed approval of the final environmental impact report for a proposed three-story development at Hollywood Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue.
Responding to requests from homeowner groups in the area, the agency voted to wait until Oct. 14 to consider the report for the proposed Galaxy development.
Several residents said they did not have enough time to review the report, while others said they had concerns they wanted to discuss with the agency’s staff.
The 200,000-square-foot development would include retail stores, restaurants, a food court and movie theaters. In the past, residents have complained that the project would create traffic and noise.
James M. Wood, chairman of the agency, described the project as “sensitive,” and said the agency postponed approval of the report in an effort to maintain good relations with the community. “It is an important step for the agency in our relationship with Hollywood,” Wood said.
Even if the report is approved, Wood said the project itself would need separate approval from the agency before construction could begin.
