Ens. David Robinson, the first pick in this year’s NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs, has joined the coaching staff at the University of Jacksonville, which is located about 30 miles south of his U.S. Navy duty station in King’s Bay, Ga.
Robinson must serve two years in the Navy before he can play in the NBA. Terms of the deal have not been completed, but Robinson--who will practice with the team--will be considered a part-time assistant coach.
