Retail Center Poses Challenge to Architect

Share

Architects for the Fountain Valley Center had to follow two different sets of city rules.

That’s because the center sits in both Santa Ana and Fountain Valley.

That wasn’t the only problem says architect in-charge Herbert Katz of Robinson/Takahashi/Katz & Associates, Los Angeles.

“Since it is an existing center, we had to work around and keep operable the main tenant, Alpha Beta market,” Katz said. “Several smaller tenants also had to be kept open as well as relocated.”

The $7.5-million project is at Euclid and Edinger avenues. The developer is the Valley Center Partnership, Santa Ana, and the contractor is Hughes Townsend Inc., Santa Ana. Completion is set for January.
