A single-engine plane crashed nose-first between two apartment buildings in a residential section of Calistoga in the Napa Valley, killing one person and seriously injuring three, authorities said. One person was reported dead at the block-long 4th Street crash site and three others were taken by ambulance or helicopter to hospitals in the region. Identities were not immediately available. The Cessna 172RG slammed into the ground shortly after attempting to land at the city’s small airport. Jim Indrebo, manager of the Calistoga Airpark, said the “transient plane” briefly touched down at the airport about a block from town but flew on. “It looked to us like he thought his landing wasn’t good, or he was overshooting and he attempted to go over and try again,” Indrebo said. He said he did not know the pilot, the plane’s destination or where it had come from. Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration were sent to the scene, police said.
