“An Evening With Ballet Rambert.” Home Vision. $39.95. Once the cradle of British ballet but now devoted to modern dance, Ballet Rambert recently canceled its 1988 U.S. tour (including performances at UCLA). Consequently, this uneven studio-taped compilation will have to suffice. Although it reveals refined dancing skills, it also suggests a choreographic identity crisis by offering such stale, derivative works as Robert North’s moody pop divertissement , “Lonely Town, Lonely Street,” and Christopher Bruce’s interminable study of domestic anguish, “Intimate Pages.” Due to its vital folk elements, Bruce’s suite of wooing dances, “Sergeant Early’s Dream,” comes off best.
