Rohr to Buy Fairchild Factory in Maryland
Rohr Industries has signed a letter of intent to purchase a 422,000-square-foot composite bonding plant in Hagerstown, Md., from a division of Fairchild Industries Inc. Terms of the deal, which is expected to be completed this month, were not disclosed.
A Rohr spokesman said the company will rehire a majority but not all of the 550 workers now at the plant. Rohr, which occupied about 4.3 million square feet of plant and office space as of July, 1986, has been aggressively expanding its plant capacity in recent months because of heightened demand for its line of aircraft jet engine components, a spokesman said.
