Rancho P.V. : Contract for Civic Center
The City Council tonight is expected to award a contract, not to exceed $140,300, to remodel a former military building at the Civic Center for use as city administrative offices.
The work will be done by Jamik Construction Co. of Redondo Beach and completed by Jan. 1.
When the administrative offices are moved into the building, trailers currently housing them will be used by the Leisure Services Department. The current Leisure Services building, also at the Civic Center, will become a studio for cable television programs.
The site formerly was a Nike missile base that the city purchased from the federal government for $500,000 as part of a Civic Center improvement plan.
The council meets tonight because its normal Tuesday meeting was postponed to allow officials to attend the annual League of California Cities conference in San Francisco.
