Local News in Brief : Cocaine Seized; 5 Held
More than 135 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $6 million was seized Wednesday by Burbank and Glendale police following a six-month investigation into drug trafficking operations in the San Fernando Valley and South Bay areas, authorities said.
A Hawthorne man and four Van Nuys residents were arrested and are being held at the Glendale City Jail in lieu of $1 million bail. Police said that all of the suspects are believed to be Colombian nationals.
Scheduled to be arraigned today are Julian Valencia, 37, of Hawthorne, and Van Nuys residents Diego Castano, 33; Manuel Restrepo, 33; William Castro, 29, and Albaro Giraldo, 39.
