Senate Judiciary Committee Votes No on Judge Bork

Share

Reagan is quoted as saying that the confirmation of a Supreme Court justice has been reduced to a “political, partisan struggle,” (Part I, Oct. 2).

What insolent shameless effrontery! Here we have a President who has used his own narrow right-wing partisan prejudices to appoint hundreds of federal judges--all of them conservative right-wing Republicans! And Reagan now complains because the shoe is on the other foot!

With the kind of reputation that is attached to Reagan appointees, there seems to be little hope that any substitute will be any better than Bork. Do we have to wait for Jan. 21, 1989, in order to have a decent nominee for the Supreme Court?
