Reagan Sees Soviet Influence

Share

It is not surprising that Reagan fondly remembers the good old days of the McCarthy era when, as president of the Screen Actors Guild, he allowed the House Un-American Activities Committee to investigate and later blacklist the “Hollywood 10.” It is also not surprising that Reagan cannot even remember the names of “those committees” that avidly sought out communists.

Our President speaks of the sophisticated disinformation campaign of the Soviets, but for a man who has waged war in Nicaragua, the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan and Angola, he’s not doing too badly. The (missile) treaty he is concocting with the Soviets is itself a good bit of propaganda, designed, I am sure, to give him the Nobel Peace Prize.
