A Baptist minister was killed and another man was wounded by rifle shots fired from a car in a busy downtown Sacramento intersection, police said. A suspect was arrested several hours later. Witnesses said a Mercury Cougar pulled up as the victims waited to cross the street. The car “stopped in the lane and a white male stuck a rifle out the window and opened fire on them,” Sgt. Bob Burns said. He said a bullet struck Rev. Sim Walton, 72, of Sacramento, in the head. A minister at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Walton died at the scene a few blocks from the state Capitol. Another bullet struck Thomas Pruitt, 70, Sacramento, in the neck, but the wound was minor. The car was traced to nearby Roseville, where Ronald Ziglier Nesbitt, 34, was arrested and booked for investigation of murder. “We have no motive at this time,” Burns said. “We have no idea if there was a prior confrontation or if this was a random shooting. We just don’t know.”
