Marea Howson of Laguna Hills will be recognized for 65 years as a blood-services volunteer and Vivien Englebrecht of Anaheim will be honored for her 50 years of disaster case work this weekend at the annual event to honor Red Cross volunteers in San Juan Capistrano.

The Orange County chapter of the American Red Cross will honor volunteer generosity and dedication at a Sunday brunch from noon to 3 p.m. at El Adobe Restaurant. About 400 people are expected to attend.

First-aid instructor Anita Allison of Anaheim, who will receive a pin for 30 years of service and for teaching more than 3,000 students, and Denny Rogers of Garden Grove, who will get recognition for donating 213 pints of blood, will be among 150 volunteers receiving pins.

Nine surprise Golden Circle Awards--the chapter’s highest honor for exemplary service--will be awarded at the brunch which has the theme “Everything Is Coming Up Roses.” The theme was chosen to salute the first American Red Cross float to roll in the 1988 Tournament of Roses Parade--a move to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the international Red Cross movement.
