One Vietnamese man was charged Friday with 12 counts of armed robbery and another with eight counts of armed robbery, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.

Tin Duc Nguyen, 21, and Long Thanh Pham, 20, are scheduled to be arraigned Monday, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Michelle Rosenblatt. The charges stem from residential robberies in the San Fernando Valley’s Asian community within the last two months, she said.

Pham was arrested along with a juvenile Thursday while attempting to break into a Volkswagen convertible parked at the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square, Rosenblatt said.

Rosenblatt said she also filed charges against two men who attempted to help Pham escape after his arrest at the mall.

Sang Tran, 29, and Goung Mai, 21, drove Pham and the juvenile away in a van, she said. The suspects were captured after a chase that ended in the 13800 block of Valleyheart Drive, authorities said.

Nguyen was not involved in the mall incident but was also arrested Thursday, she said.
