A Clairemont man was arrested Saturday after police discovered a live hand grenade in his vehicle.

San Diego Police Lt. Connie Van Putten said the suspect, William Fish, in his mid-20s, was sought by authorities for violating terms of his federal probation.

Police went to his residence on Limerick Street and noticed the tip of the hand grenade under the seat of his truck, parked in front of his house.

Fish was arrested for possession of a live explosive and for possession of a false identification, Van Putten said.

The San Diego Fire Department’s explosive ordnance division impounded the hand grenade, she said.
