Light Rainfall Possible Then Outlook Is Dry
Light rain dampened part of the Southland early Saturday, but most areas remained dry with cloudy skies throughout the day.
By 3 p.m. the Los Angeles Basin had received 0.01 inch of rain, with most of that concentrated in the mountains.
Some showers are possible early today, but clouds should diminish by early afternoon, bringing drier air and warmer temperatures, said Janice Roth, meteorologist at WeatherData, a private weather consulting firm that provides forecasts for The Times.
“There will be very light amounts of rain tomorrow and those should be tapering off to partly cloudy skies the rest of Sunday,” Roth said. WeatherData predicts up to 0.03 inch of rain Sunday.
The drier, warmer weather trend is expected to continue into Monday.
The rain was partly blamed for the deaths of two spa employees Friday at Wheeler Hot Springs in the Los Padres National Forest near Ojai. Christina Gilman, 37, and John Kaufer, 31, were repairing storm-damaged water lines when they were crushed by a falling oak tree. Elsewhere, two other people died in accidents on rain-slick roads Friday.
