Gardena : Law Ready on Swap Meets
The City Council introduced an ordinance to regulate swap meets.
A moratorium on new swap meets--prompted by resident’s concerns over a lack of zoning controls for such businesses--has been in effect since January.
The proposed ordinance will require each new swap meet to apply for a conditional use permit. It will also make indoor swap meets subject to all laws that apply to covered malls.
A vote on the ordinance will be taken at the council meeting on Nov. 24. The regularly scheduled meeting set for Nov. 10 has been canceled.
