Countywide : Repiratory Ailment Hospitalizes Riley

Share

County Supervisor Thomas F. Riley was admitted to Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach on Thursday for treatment of a respiratory ailment, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Riley, 75, was resting in satisfactory condition, according to a nursing supervisor.

County officials said they were told that Riley was suffering from pneumonia, but the hospital’s staff said it could not confirm or deny the report.

Riley was hospitalized in May for prostate surgery, and he has been hospitalized several times in recent years for severe asthma attacks.

He has been on the Board of Supervisors since 1974, when then-Gov. Ronald Reagan picked the retired Marine Corps brigadier general to replace Supervisor Ronald W. Caspers, lost at sea in boating accident.
