Anaheim : Peril to Public Forces Police to End Pursuit
A high-speed pursuit of a car-theft suspect was abandoned Thursday when police decided it was too dangerous to the public to continue speeding through crowded intersections.
The chase, which lasted about 10 minutes and reached speeds of more than 50 m.p.h., ended near Lemon Street and Orangethorpe Avenue.
There were no injuries or accidents, police said.
The chase began when one officer saw a suspect enter a car that had no license plates and drive away.
Further details about the incident were unavailable, police said.
