AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: The Cars’ Rick Ocasek recently blasted groups that allow their songs to be made into TV jingles (“I would never use music to enhance a product”). But that hasn’t stopped ZZ Top from selling the rights to their hit, “Legs,” to (you guessed it) the L’Eggs pantyhose firm, while Eric Clapton has signed on to do a series of Michelob commercials for Anheuser-Busch. . . . Meanwhile, it seems like everybody is releasing greatest-hits collections (and just in time for the holidays too). That includes Stevie Winwood, Paul McCartney (“All My Best” with an unreleased track called “Waterspout”), the Pretenders (“The Singles,” which will offer 16 Big Ones, including Chrissie Hynde’s “I Got You Babe” duet with UB40) and the Clash, with a hits package dubbed “Revolution Rock.”
