Laguna Niguel’s Incorporation
We hear arguments about the projected population of Laguna Niguel. The pro-Laguna Niguel people say 70,000 maximum. The pro-coastal city people argue it will be 90,000.
Both figures are frightening--but if past history means anything, both are short of the mark.
Laguna Niguel’s leaders are sensitive about the figures quoted, and for good reason. When they asked us on the coast to turn to them for protection from growth, saying, “Have you looked at our track record?” I have to answer yes. That is one reason why I will not vote to join your city of Laguna Niguel.
