Culver City Forms Traffic Committee

Share

The City Council has voted to form a committee of Sunkist Park residents to work with Culver City’s engineering staff to solve traffic problems in the neighborhood of single-family homes near the San Diego Freeway.

The council last week also ordered monthly status reports on barriers that the city erected a month ago throughout Sunkist Park to close a dangerous intersection and discourage commuters from taking shortcuts through the neighborhood. Council members also directed staff to give residents 72 hours notice before implementing any future traffic control measures.

The vote came after more than three hours of testimony from Sunkist Park residents, who complained that the barriers diverted traffic from one part of the neighborhood into another and made it harder to get to and from their homes.
