WASHINGTON — Ida Nudel, the longtime Soviet Jewish refusenik who was recently permitted to emigrate to Israel, will take part in a Washington demonstration on the eve of the December superpower summit to call attention to the plight of Soviet Jews, a number of Jewish organizations said today.
The “Washington mobilization” will be held Dec. 6. A summit between President Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev is scheduled to begin Dec. 7.
The National Conference of Soviet Jewry, which represents 53 Jewish organizations, said in a statement that the demonstration will “serve as an expression of support to President Reagan” and a “message to the Kremlin” that the Soviet Union must take steps to allow Jewish emigration and make improvements on other human rights issues.
