Hamburger Hamlets said its second-quarter profit more than quadrupled from a year earlier, to $620,412, or 20 cents a share, from $143,961, or 5 cents a share in the corresponding period a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter that ended Sept. 27 was $12 million, compared to $11 million a year before.

For the six-month period, the Sherman Oaks chain of 24 restaurants reported a profit of $810,996, or 26 cents a share, on revenue of $24 million, compared to a profit of $226,226, or 7 cents a share, on revenue of $21.8 million last year.

The company attributed its growth in profit to four restaurants opened in 1986. It also received $900,000 in the settlement of a lawsuit.
