The San Diego City Council on Monday voted to pay $1.1 million to buy and preserve as open space 91 acres of hillsides near San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium. The hillsides are along Gramercy Drive and Ruffin Road, west of Mission Village Drive. Council members cited the hillsides’ proximity to the stadium as one of the reasons for the purchase.
