Japan Frees N. Korean

TOKYO —
Japan on Monday freed a North Korean army sergeant who stowed away on a ship four years ago and has refused to return home, an official said. Min Hong Gu, 25, was released from detention under several restrictions, a government spokesman said, but he would not discuss the conditions.
