Schools

I am a foreign student who has been through the educational system in California for the past eight years, and sadly I have to say that it is an ineffective system and does not even come close to other countries, such as Japan or even a number of Third World countries.

Children are the future of this country, but I hate to say that the government is not willing to invest in them. Investing in children should begin with investing in the teachers who are responsible for their education. Americans should use the Japanese educational system as an example.

Japanese teachers are paid more than engineers, which demonstrates the Japanese value education. The results of their system are visible throughout the world and the United States. They run efficient companies, save bankrupt American corporations and invest great amounts of money in the U.S. economy.

The public is given a false notion about the state lottery helping schools through a vast amount of flackery--”Our Schools Win Too.” The money generated by the lottery covers only 3% of the budget, which is like filling a few potholes. Americans should wake up and smell the sushi before it is too late.
