Alhambra : Party Hosts to Pay Police

Share

An ordinance adopted by the City Council will enable the Police Department to bill hosts for the cost of responding to complaints about loud parties.

The ordinance says police who are called to the same location twice “to control the threat to the public peace, health, safety or general welfare shall be deemed to be on special security assignment” and their salary, plus any damages, shall be billed to those in charge of the event. The maximum bill will be $1,000.

City Manager Kevin Murphy said the ordinance was prompted by an increase in the number of large parties requiring police intervention.
