Former defensive end Earl Wilson of the San Diego Chargers was accepted into a drug diversion program, which will lead to his drug charges being dismissed if he completes the program in Louisville, Ky.

San Diego Municipal Judge Fred Link granted the defense’s request that Wilson, 29, should enter the 12-week program, open only to first-time drug offenders.

Wilson is charged with furnishing one-fourth of a gram of rock cocaine to an undercover police officer and possession of the drug.

On Oct. 23, Charger defensive back Danny Walters was accepted into a similar drug diversion program. He was charged with possession of 1.7 grams of powdered cocaine.

Walters, 25, pleaded no contest to driving under the influence of alcohol in the same Sept. 14 incident and will be sentenced Nov. 19 by Link.
