Local News in Brief : Jet Passengers Shaken Up

Seven passengers on a Mexicana Airlines flight from Mexico City suffered minor injuries when their plane hit heavy turbulence as it neared Los Angeles International Airport.

The plane, Flight 908, carrying 109 passengers and eight crew members, landed safely Wednesday evening, about 15 minutes after the incident, said Bert Caivano, assistant station manager for Mexicana in Los Angeles.

Seven people were treated on the plane for minor injuries, Caivano said. Six of them, four passengers and two flight attendants, were later taken to Centinela Hospital Medical Center, but none was hurt seriously enough to require hospitalization, a hospital spokeswoman said.
