U.S. military experts will hold talks in Laos this week to try to speed up cooperation in accounting for 549 missing Americans, most of them airmen who flew bombing runs over Laos during the Vietnam War. The team from the U.S. Joint Casualty Resolution Center is to hold three days of talks beginning Wednesday in Vientiane. U.S. officials said in Bangkok, Thailand, that they haven’t seen any concrete steps to recover the remains of missing American servicemen since February, 1986, when the two countries jointly excavated a U.S. warplane crash site in Laos.
