Ground-breaking ceremonies were held Monday for a $1.9-million recreation facility at Ralph B. Clark Regional Park that will be able to accommodate softball leagues from throughout the northern part of county.

Construction is scheduled to begin in December, with completion scheduled for September, county officials said.

The facility will contain five softball diamonds, two volleyball courts, a horseshoe court, parking for 200 automobiles and a 2,000-square-foot concession building, all to be located on about 40 acres on the park’s northern side.
